Mrs Attanasioâs class read the most books in the school for the âRead 2000.â They read 187 books in 3 weeks. The class is making time lines about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. This month is Dental Health month so they have been talking about that. They are studying the weather and learning their higher addition problems. They made valentine mail boxes to celebrate Valentines Day.
Mrs Mishicoâs class has been reading many books to go along with the theme about surprises. They are working on the long vowel âi.â They are talking about how to take good care of their teeth. They are studying the sun and stars and working on money. They are also talking about the two presidents, Lincoln and Washington. They made valentine bags and celebrated Valentines Day. Theyâve been doing a lot of writing and they wrote about what they like to do in the snow.
Mrs Maringolaâs class has been learning about money like counting them. They are also learning about poems and the weather. In science they are learning to balance. Every child has a class job and they are thinking to add a paper sorter. This month four children are celebrating their half year birthdays. They had a field trip to see endangered species. The children love playing in the snow and they want to get a class pet. The class won Sport Day after having 101% participation.
Mrs Lejaâs class made valentine cards for Valentines Day for their pen pals, computer friends and book buddies. They are also learning about the two presidents. They celebrated the 100th day of school with necklaces made with 100 Fruit Loops. They made a snake in the hall which was 100 inches long! They had to guess how many nuts they could grab out of a bag and then made a line graph. They are reading My Brown Bear, Barney. They had a Valentine store and are learning about money.
In science Mrs Smithâs class has been learning about the sun, moon and stars. The class is also learning to balance and weigh things. The children made their own mobiles. Mrs Smith loves to watch them read during their free time. The children have also been using a computer program and are learning to count coins. The children had a great time during their Valentines party and they all decorated their own valentine bag. And thatâs what the first grade has been doing!
