At Meeting House, May 25
Rae Smith will be demonstrating in pastel during the next program hosted by The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN), scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, at 1:30 pm. Her subject will be a landscape.
This meeting is open to the public, free of charge, and will be at Newtown Meeting House (lower level), 31 Main Street in Newtown.
Rae Smith has exhibited her expressive, impressionistic pastel paintings in juried exhibitions throughout the United States as well as Japan, China, and Canada. Her work has won many awards in juried exhibitions and has been published in well known art magazines and journals. Many of her awards have been top awards.
Rae was elected Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America, having won more than three awards at the National Arts Club in New York City.
Ms Smith is listed in the Directory of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers and in Whoâs Who in American Art. She is presently on the teaching staff of the Katonah Art Center, Katonah, NY.Â
Her pastels and oils range in subject, depicting goldfish ponds, the dunes of Ocean City and other local landscapes.
