Holiday Tree Lighting & Festivities, Food Drive Saturday In Stony Hill
BETHEL â The Stony Hill Four Corners Association will be holding its annual Holiday Tree Lighting & Festivities Food Drive to benefit the Bethel and Newtown food banks on Saturday, November 17, at the Big Y Plaza. The food drive will run from 10 am to 5:30 pm outside the Big Y in Bethel, at 83 Stony Hill Road.
Volunteers will be collecting nonperishables and toiletries.
Following will be festivities from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. There will be music, a sing-along, refreshments provided by Dunkinâ Donuts, Starbucks, and Big Y, and a performance by the Stony Hill Rockettes from Dance Etc. The night will end with a tree lighting and the arrival of Santa and Mrs Claus on a fire truck.
In the past, the generosity of the community has been overwhelming. Last year volunteers collected more than 3,000 pounds of food and more than $1,500 to benefit both the Newtown and Bethel food banks.
This Saturday morning the Bethel food bank will be delivering Thanksgiving food baskets to residents in need. In the past, donations from the Stony Hill Four Corners Association Food Drive have restocked the selves. Organizers are hoping for the same this year.
