A New York woman is hospitalized as a result of serious injuries she received
September 11 in a two-vehicle accident on Hanover Road.
Margaret Manheimer of Croton Falls, N.Y., who is in her mid-30s, was reported
in serious condition in the critical care unit of Danbury Hospital Thursday
morning. Ms Manheimer was the right-rear seat passenger in a Chrylser Concorde
involved in the crash, police said.
The accident occurred at the four-way intersection of Hanover Road and Hall
Lane about 11:30 am.
Police said motorist Frances Fenaroli, 66, of 2 Bennetts Bridge Road, who was
driving a 1999 Chevy Blazer westbound on Hall Lane, was crossing Hanover Road
while Lauren A. Manheimer, 24, of 176 Hanover Road, was driving a 1995
Chrysler Concorde northbound on Hanover Road.
The Chevy struck the Chrysler at the intersection, police said.
The Chrysler then struck a stone wall along the southbound shoulder of Hanover
Road and caught fire. The Chevy veered to the right and came to rest on a
lawn. The Newtown Hook and Ladder Volunteer Fire Company went to the scene.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported both drivers and the three
passengers in the Chrysler to Danbury Hospital for treatment.
Ms Fenaroli was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Chrysler passengers Jennifer Manheimer, 29, of Bethel, and Grace Manheimer,
62, of 176 Hanover Road, were both treated and released.
Lauren Manheimer was admitted to the hospital and then discharged September
13, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police said the accident is under investigation.
