A MisplacedVision Of Education
A Misplaced
Vision Of Education
To the Editor:
For citizens who believe in quality over quantity please read the following carefully.
I had the enlightening pleasure to attend the Legislative Council finance committee meeting held Tuesday, January 18. After public participation had ended, longtime council member Melissa Pilchard took a brief moment to educate the fiscally ignorant citizens in attendance. After Ms Pilchardâs diatribe ended and some attendees spoke out, council member John Kortze had to apologize to the crowd for what had taken place.
What I witnessed that night was not the second coming of the famed Newtown benefactress Mary Hawley but an insensitive, self-serving politician whose misplaced vision of todayâs educational requirements does not serve the community at large.
I would like to thank Mr John Kortze whose clear thinking and leadership throughout the meeting kept the board on the right path. His motion to present the fees to the full Legislative Council along with Don Studley and Brian White was well received by the crowd. Their efforts should be applauded.
Thank you,
Thomas Milano
