Summer Art Programs For Children And Teens Still Available
DANBURY â Wooster Community Art Center (WCAC) is offering the 11th season of SumART, a summer art program for children ages 5 to 13. The program will run three hours a day, Monday through Thursday, in two-week blocks. Three sessions of SumART are available: June 26 through July 7, July 10 through July 20, and July 24 through August 3.
Each session and age group (ages 5-8 and 9-13) will be taught by a separate teacher. Students may enroll in one or more sessions.
SumART students will work in a variety of media and methods including drawing, paintings, printmaking, and sculpture. At least once a session, a visiting artist will be invited into the SumART classroom to co-teach with the core instructor in the artistâs area of specialization.
Classes will be held in the studio and outdoors. SumART classes are kept small to insure individualized instruction (12 students maximum), and advanced registration is required to reserve a space.
For teens ages 14 to 17, WCAC is offering four consecutive, week-long intensive courses in drawing, painting, sculpture and photography. Students may sign up for each course individually or take all four at a discount. Classes will meet Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 2:30 pm, and begin the week of June 26.
The courses are designed to give students an in-depth art experience in a particular area, to bring students to the next level of skill, and to assist in portfolio development. Beginners as well as advanced students are welcome.
All classes will be taught by professional artists with experience teaching teenagers. Class size is limited to allow instructors to work with students individually.
