Examining Similarities
To the Editor,
I read with interest the letter âSimilarities To History,â by Wanda E.A. Kokoszka. She historically compared Adolf Hitler (and his cronies) rise to power to this countryâs Commander-in-Chief (and his cronies) rise to power, and suggested we think about it, as she has.
OK Wanda, here goes: Adolf Hitler invaded Poland and other innocent neighbors. President Bush hasnât invaded any neighbors! But wait, Saddam Hussein has invaded his innocent neighbor, Kuwait.
Adolf Hitler tortured and murdered eight million of his own citizens (Jews, Gypsies, etc). President Bush hasnât killed anyone! But wait, Saddam Hussein has tortured and killed 1.5 million of his own citizens (Kurds, etc.), didnât he?
Hey, Wanda, now I too see the historical similarity between Adolf Hitler and the Commander-in Chief of your country. You must live in Iraq!
You know whatâs even more interesting, Wanda? Thereâs one similarity you missed. The same country that stopped Hitlerâs atrocities and liberated Poland, France, etc, is now going in to stop Saddam Hussein and liberate the Iraqi people. Yes, Wanda, the good old United States of America. Our prayers are with the brave men and women of our armed forces and the British military, also. God Bless the USA !
