WATERBURY – Margie Herr TPM, of Equi-Myo in North Granby drew an enthusiastic audience for the Correct Saddle Fitting for Horses discussion at Teikyo Post University in Waterbury. The discussion was part of the on-going Quiz The Experts series.

Ms Herr covered many areas of how to fit a saddle correctly together with the impact that badly fitting tack can have on performance. She confirmed that 80% of horses work under some kind of pain from saddles or bridles, especially those that are incorrectly fitted. She also emphasized how each horse has a different conformation, which must be considered when making sure the saddle fits.

Meghan Donovan, a sophomore in the Equine Management program, brought her quarterhorse gelding, Chance, into the lecture hall to model different saddles so we could really understand the important points involved.

The next lecture in the Quiz the Experts series will feature Rich Gregan, Connecticut Animal Control Officer. Officer Gregan will explain his work and how to recognize animal abuse.  This event will be on Friday, March 28, at 7:15 pm in the Drubner Center, Room 201,(exit 17 off I-84).

Tickets are available for the price of $6 in advance or $10 at the door.  For further information, call 203-596-4631 or email Cbaker@teikyopost.edu.
