Found Telephone
On January 6, police received for safekeeping a cellular telephone, which was found on December 1 in the A-wing gymnasium at Newtown Middle School. The owner may claim the telephone by identifying it at the police station.
Drug Charges
Police said they were summoned to 79 Main Street on the night of January 8 on a medical assistance call, after which they charged Christopher Roberto, 34, of that address, with illegal possession of narcotics (cocaine) and also with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also charged Sheila Roberto, 42, also of that address, with failure to keep prescription narcotics in their original containers.
Police released each person on $100 bail for January 22 appearances in Danbury Superior Court.
Hall Lane
On January 3, a Newtown resident found a key with a blue key ring attached to it on Hall Lane, after which the resident turned over the key to police for safekeeping. The key is for a Ford vehicle. The key ring bears the name âMcMahon.â Police ask the keyâs owner to claim it at the police station.
Three Snowmen
Sometime between 1:30 and 6 am on December 29, someone left three large inflatable snowman lawn ornaments on the premises at a Forest View Drive residence, police report. The owner may claim the ornaments at the police station at 3 Main Street.
Warrant Executed
Police said they served an arrest warrant on January 9 at Danbury Superior Court, listing charges of first degree failure to appear in court and second degree sexual assault, against Robert Coffey, 20, of 7 Black Walnut Drive.
Police said the sex charge stems from a past incident in which Coffey allegedly had sex with a female under age 16. Coffey was arraigned on those charges that day.
Coffey had been transported that day from Bridgeport Correctional Center to court for an appearance on an unrelated charge, police said.
Coffey was being held this week in the Bridgeport jail on $200,000 bail on various charges.
Court Case
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, on January 9, Justin Harding, 19, of 33 Elm Drive, turned himself over to police and was charged with second degree failure to appear in court and with driving under suspension. The motor vehicle charge stems from an October 2003 incident. Police released Harding on a $500 bond for a January 22 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Borough MVA
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Queen Street and Glover Avenue in the borough about 8 pm January 6.
According to police, motorist Mark Reid, 18, of 48 Riverside Road, who was driving a 1990 Jeep Wrangler, was traveling southward on Queen Street behind southbound motorist Charles Loomis, 46, of 5 Farrell Road, who was driving a 1994 Ford Taurus.
The Ford stopped suddenly for a vehicle that had pulled out from Glover Avenue into the intersection, and was struck from behind by the Jeep, police report. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Reid a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Flagpole Collision
A two-vehicle accident took place near the flagpole at the intersection of Main Street and Church Hill Road about 7:30 am January 8.
Motorist John Sacchere, Jr, 42, of New Milford, who was driving a 1998 Honda CRV, was turning right onto northbound Main Street from Church Hill Road, as motorist Christian Kuehn, 50, of 28 West Street, who was driving a 2000 Ford E-250 van, was turning left from West Street onto northbound Main Street, police said.
During the dual maneuver, the vehicles collided, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Sacchere a written warning for failure to grant the right of way after making a stop.
Turkey Roost Crash
Motorist James Swenson, 40, of 21 Turkey Roost Road was driving a 1985 Chevrolet pickup truck eastward on that road about 7:20 pm January 6, when the vehicle went out of control on the icy street and struck a utility pole and mailbox at 1 Turkey Roost Road, police said. Swenson was not injured, police said.
Town Center Accident
Motorist Clarence Schneider, 72, of 30 Old Bethel Road, who was driving a 1966 Volvo 1800-S coupe, was stopped at the stop sign on Church Hill Road at its intersection with Main Street on January 6, police said. The Volvo then pulled out onto Main Street and stopped, after which it was struck from behind by motorist Lisa Grossman, 17, of 45 Mt Pleasant Road, who was driving a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Grossman a written warning for traveling at an unsafe distance.
Paugussett Deer
Motorist Marcia Maurer, 60, of 66 Osborne Hill Road was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala southward on Paugussett Road about 8:24 am January 9, when a deer entered the road and the auto collided with it, police said. The deer then ran off, police said.
Bennetts Bridge
While traveling westward on Bennetts Bridge Road about 7:20 pm January 6, motorist Daniel Kostecki, 49, of 11 Founders Lane, who was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, lost control of the auto on the icy road and went off the westbound road shoulder, police report.
Kostecki was not injured. No enforcement action was taken.
Slippery Toddy Hill
Police report a two-vehicle accident involving multiple impacts on an icy Toddy Hill Road about 6:30 pm January 6.
The accident near 89 Toddy Hill Road involved a 2002 Honda Civic driven by Kathryn Metzker, 28, of 4 Dusty Lane, and a 1994 Mercury Villager driven by Janice Rardin, 49, of 18 Timber Mill Road, police said.
There were no injuries or enforcement actions, police said.

Larceny Warrant
On January 9, Newtown police went to West Haven to the residence of Andrew Szczygiel, 23, and served an arrest warrant against him on a charge of third degree larceny, which is a felony.
The arrest stems from a past incident in which Szczygiel allegedly stole some electronic equipment from his employer, police said. Police released Szczygiel on a $260 bond for a January 28 appearance for arraignment on the charge in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant Served
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Adam Samuels, 21, of 128 Hanover Road went to the police station on January 12 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction. That charge stems from Samuelsâ not resolving a past infraction ticket against him on a charge of creating a public disturbance, police said.
Samuels posted an $88 bond and was released for a January 22 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to resolve the two pending charges, police said.
Botsford Accident
Motorist Sally Feuerberg, 49, of 90 Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 2003 Subaru Outback, was exiting the Botsford Post Office driveway at about 10:49 am January 10, when she accidentally depressed the accelerator pedal on the Subaru and entered the westbound lane of Botsford Hill Road, colliding with the passenger side of a westbound 1996 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Roger Campos, 48, of Danbury, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Feuerberg a written warning for failure to grant the right of way from a driveway.
Church Hill Collision
 Motorist Aleksander Alves, 16, of 7 Sand Hill Road, who was driving a 1993 Ford, was turning left onto Church Hill Road from the driveway at 57 Church Hill Road, when the Ford collided with a westbound 1996 Nissan driven by Anthony Harcourt, 53, of Monroe at about 11:42 am on January 10, police said. Firefighters went to the accident.
There were no injuries. Police issued Alves an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way from a private driveway.
Chain Reaction
Police report a three-vehicle accident at 316 South Main Street, near Botsford Lane, about 11:12 am January 6.
Motorist Nancy Gould, 44, of 129 Brushy Hill Road, who was driving a 1995 Ford Explorer, was stopped and waiting for a noncontact vehicle to make a left turn, police report. Motorist Salvatore Pasacreta, 66, of Milford, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, was positioned behind the Ford, police said. Motorist Jacqueline Causa, 28, of Shelton, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Solara, then struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, pushing the Chevrolet into the rear end of the Ford, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Causa a written warning for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
Store Vandalism
At about 1:05 am January 15, police went to Brooks Pharmacy at 5 Queen Street in response to a glass breakage alarm. Someone had broken a large glass panel window at the front of the drug store, police said.
At about that time, police said they spotted two males running along Church Hill Road in a suspicious manner. Police said they followed the males into a wooded area near Edmond Road and tracked them through the woods via fresh footprints in newly fallen snow.
On apprehending the pair, police charged Adams Samuels, 21, of 128 Hanover Road, and Lyle Murphy, 17, of 6 Fir Tree Lane in connection with the store vandalism incident. Police charged each with first degree criminal mischief and with interfering with police.
The criminal mischief charge, which is a felony, involves more than $1,500 in property damage. felony.
Neither youth could post a $1,000 bond, so both were scheduled for arraignment later that day in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
Ford Vs Deer
Motorist Chris Stefanko, 26, of Southbury was driving as 1993 Ford pickup truck westward on Route 302 near Sugar Hill at about 2:30 pm January 13, when a deer entered the street and collided with the truck, damaging it, police said.
The deer then ran off. Stefanko was not injured. Police took no enforcement action.
Obtuse Road
Motorist Marilouise Bruens, 50, of Woodbury was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima northward on Obtuse Road about 4:30 pm January 14 and then stopped suddenly, after which the Nissan was struck from behind by northbound motorist Lori Ann Hongach, 26, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Hongach a written warning for following too closely. Police issued Bruens a summons for failure to have automotive insurance and for driving an unregistered vehicle.
Currituck Crash
Motorist Nicholas Varga, 17, of 20 Merlins Lane was driving a 1995 Volvo 850-GTL station wagon northward on Currituck Road, near Signal Post Road, about 2:30 pm January 13, when Varga stopped for traffic, police said.
Northbound motorist Richard Melycher, 17, of 3 Newbury Road, who was driving a 1994 Volkswagen Jetta, then struck the Volvo from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Melycher a written warning for following too closely.
