Kicks Off Annual Campaign
 SOUTHBURY â The Federation, Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut, Inc will kick off its annual campaign on Sunday, August 29, at 9:30 am. The morningâs program, which includes a full kosher breakfast, will be held at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus at 444 Main Street North. The cost of the breakfast is $18.
The guest speaker is Gil Tamary. One of the most respected Israeli journalists, he is a well-known voice of Good Morning Israel. He currently is the Washington reporter and bureau chief for the Israel Broadcasting Authority (Israelâs public television network and Israel Public Radio). He has also provided commentary about the Middle East on many television shows in the United States. A native Israeli, he is a reservist with the Israeli Defense Force. He holds an MBA from Tel Aviv University and a bachelorâs degree in economy and management.
During this campaign breakfast, the Federation will honor the following individuals for outstanding contributions to the Jewish community: Dr Carolyn Falk of Beth El Synagogue; Harriet Dauber of Heritage Village Hadassah; Dov Braunstein of Yeshiva Gedolah of Waterbury; Dr Richard Glavin and Norman Mellk of the Greater Washington Coalition for Jewish Life; Rabbi and Mrs Judah Harris of Bânai Shalom Synagogue; Lionel Schwartz of the Jewish Culture Club of Heritage Village; and the musicians of Bânai Israel â Sharon Citrin, Larry Smotroff, Norman Schain, Wendy Zullo, Lorraine Luger, Jennifer Horn, Linda Goodman, Dennis Guillaume, George Steinfeld, Alex Greenberg, Cantor Samantha Natov, Alan DeFerrari, Nathanial Basch-Gould, Maxx Berkowitz, and Alyssa Swaniger.
