Connecticut Innovations Invites Proposals For Applied Research Projects
ROCKY HILL â Connecticut Innovations (CI) recently announced that it is accepting proposals for its 2006 Yankee Ingenuity Technology Competition. The annual competition is intended to encourage Connecticut businesses to collaborate with Connecticut colleges and universities to conduct applied research aimed at developing and commercializing products or processes with high potential to contribute to long-term, sustainable economic growth in Connecticut.
This year, the Yankee Ingenuity Technology Competition is seeking, exclusively, proposals for projects involving clean energy technologies such as solar energy, wind energy, and fuel cells. Proposals must be submitted by teams of business and academic scientists in Connecticut.
Proposed projects should be highly innovative and aim at overcoming an important commercial problem or exploiting a promising business opportunity. Winning projects will be selected by the Yankee Ingenuity Technology Competition panel of judges and will be eligible for up to $300,000 in funding.
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, a ratepayer fund administered by Connecticut Innovations, Inc, is providing the funding for this yearâs projects.
Proposals must be submitted to Connecticut Innovations by January 26. An electronic application may be downloaded from Connecticut Innovationsâ website, www.ctinnovations.com. The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund was created by the Connecticut General Assembly and is administered by Connecticut Innovations. CCEF is promoting the development and commercialization of clean energy technologies and is stimulating markets for electricity from clean and renewable sources.
