AYF Football/Cheerleading Registrations

Newtown American Youth Football and Cheer (formerly Newtown Pop Warner) will hold registration on Saturday, April 30, from 9 am to 12 noon in the Newtown High School cafeteria. Boys and girls ages 7 through 14 (age as of July 31, 2005) up to grade eight are eligible to participate. All football players must attend to be weighed. New participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Registration fee is $225 for football and $155 for cheerleading. Families with more than one child pay one full registration and $10 off all others. Contact Mike McNamara (364-1690) with football inquiries or Lori Rohrbacher (470-3024) with cheer inquiries.

Sunday Slo-Pitch Meeting

There will be a mandatory meeting for Men’s Sunday Slo-Pitch Softball League on Thursday, April 14, at 7 pm at Hot Shots Grille. All team representatives must bring roster and fee. Any questions, contact Jim Dudeck 270-7877.

Watertown 5K Road Race

The seventh annual Watertown 5K Road Race, benefitting Project Graduation at Watertown High School, will be held Sunday, April 10, at Veterans Memorial Park in Watertown. A quarter-mile kids’ race will start at 12:30 pm with the 5K to follow at 1 pm. Fee is $10 ($3 for the kids’ race). There will be raffles, refreshments (courtesy of Starbucks, New England Water Co., and La Dolce Vita Bakery) and awards. Namath/Dockery Football Camp

The annual Joe Namath/John Dockery Instructional Football Camp will be held July 10 through July 15 at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachussetts. The staff of professional instructors will include Justin McCareins, Kareem McKenzie, Erik Coleman, Victor Hobson, Chris Snee, Tim Carter, Jarvis Green and Dan Klecko. The camp is open to boys ages 8 to 18 and will feature programs on Injury Prevention & Care, Non-Contact, College Selection, Nutritional Guidance, Weight/Fitness, and Running.
