Susan R. Resko

Susan (Reynolds) Resko, 91, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, formerly of Bridgeport and Westport, died January 24 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the wife of the late William A. Resko, who died January 15, 2000.

She was the mother of Patricia R. Marshall of Newtown.

Born in Waterbury August 28, 1908, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Susan G. Reynolds and had been a resident of Bridgeport for several years and resident of Westport for over 45 years until moving to Wallingford eight years ago. She was a graduate of Russell Sage College, where she received her degree for social work and English and also obtained her certificate to teach high school. She later received her master’s degree in education from the Danbury State Teachers College. She was employed in New Rochelle as a social worker for several years. She then worked for the towns of Bethel and Ridgefield until she attained a position with the State of Connecticut Child Welfare Division. She worked in the Norwich office and then the Bridgeport office until she began her family. She then taught in the Westport public school system at Coleytown Elementary School for 21 years until her retirement.

She is also survived by a son, William Reynolds Resko of Sun Valley, Idaho; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Henry Simon Resko; a sister, Muriel E. Reynolds; and two brothers, Samuel and Ellsworth Reynolds.

A memorial service celebrating Mrs Resko’s life will be held January 31, at the Greens Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road, Westport at 11 am. Interment in Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport will be private. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main Street, Yalesville section of Wallingford.
