Christmas Concert Will Feature McCann Family Choir & Jackson Pike Skifflers
Christmas Concert Will Feature
McCann Family Choir & Jackson Pike Skifflers
EASTON â On Sunday, December 17 at 4 pm, the McCann Family Choir and members of The Jackson Pike Skifflers will return to Christâs Church to present their special blend of traditional, vernacular and original Christmas music.
Well-known in the area, members of the McCann family of Bridgeport have been singing, composing, playing, recording and teaching music for at least two generations. At Christmastime each year, the third generation now joins in, adding new touches, as the family choir presents musical programs at area convalescent homes and hospitals. As a special bonus, the musicians will offer this popular public concert as a fundraiser to helping those in need.
The McCann Family Choir will be joined by members of the traditional music group The Jackson Pike Skifflers, who will offer some lesser-known vernacular Christmas music. The Skifflers include David McCann of Monroe, Dan Carlucci of Stamford, along with Will, Katie and Dan Tressler of Easton. A special feature again this year will be selections of Irish Christmas music played by David McCann and Damien and Sally (Tressler) Connolly.
Those attending the concert will be invited to a reception afterwards, in the parish hall of Christâs Church. Hosts for the special holiday event will be parishioners of Christâs Church, staff members from Bridgeport Rescue Mission, and organizers of The Mary McCann Bradicich Scholarship Fund.
There is no charge for the concert or reception, but the musicians invite those attending to contribute to the following charities that they support and work with: The Bridgeport Rescue Mission and The Mary McCann Bradicich Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Christâs Church is at 59 Church Road, one-quarter of a mile north of the intersection of routes 59 and 136. Further information may be obtained by calling Will Tresser at 268-7674, or the church office at 268-3569.
