Two Garner Inmates Arrested After Fight

Following a report of inmate trouble at the state’s high-security Garner Correctional Institution at 50 Nunnawauk Road on October 6, state police went there to investigate.

State police learned that two inmates had been injured in an assault which involved both men.

Each charged with third-degree assault were: Wayne D. Gentle, Jr, 30, and Willie M. Riddick, 34, state police said.

Both men were scheduled for October 9 arraignments in Danbury Superior Court.

Gentle is an unsentenced inmate in Garner being held there on $77,000 bail on a drug charge. Riddick is serving a 30-month sentence in Garner on a conviction for assault on a police/fire officer.
