Two Bethel Business Groups Ushering In

 The Holidays

The Stony Hill Four Corners Association and the Bethel Chamber of Commerce have both slated holiday activities in the coming week.

The Four Corners Association works to promote greater awareness of what the businesses in the Stony Hill area of Bethel and Newtown have to offer, while also creating ways for those businesses to give back to the community.

The upcoming food drive is the Stony Hill association’s last community event of the year. It begins at noon, Saturday, November 20, with members of the Hawleyville and Stony Hill Fire Companies collecting food at the Big Y shopping center.

The food is donated to the Newtown and Bethel food pantries.

Festivities continue at 5:30 pm, when there will be performances by the Stony Hill Rockettes (members of Dance Etc, whose owner Jen Turrey is a former Radio City Rockette) and a sing-along.

Refreshments of coffee, cider, donuts are being donated by Starbucks, Big Y, and Dunkin’ Donuts. After the tree is lit, Santa and Mrs Claus arrive on a very festively decorated Stony Hill fire truck, escorted by a Hawleyville fire truck. Children will have the opportunity to chat with Santa and Mrs Claus and receive a candy cane.

For more information about the event or the SH4C Association call Dennis Janofsky at Quality Gem 203-748-4239 or Madeline Bunt at Union Savings, 203-730-6377.

The Bethel Chamber of Commerce Annual Tree Lighting Festival follows on Friday, November 26, in the historic downtown area of Bethel.

Complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered from 12:30 until 4 pm. Hot soup, also free of charge, will be donated by more than 15 area restaurants and eateries.

Santa will arrive by fire truck for a 5:30 pm tree lighting ceremony, and shops and restaurants will remain open with special shopping and holiday treats.

The offices of Bethel Chamber of Commerce, at 16 PT Barnum Square, will be open for visits, information, along with complimentary cider and donuts.

Call the Bethel Chamber at 203-743-6500 for additional information.
