The first selectman said although the curbside pickup program has essentially ended, homeowners may continue taking storm debris to the transfer station during the regular hours of operation from 7 am to 3 pm Tuesday through Saturday. She said suspension of the charge for limbs over three inches in diameter will continue until the New Year.

“When the transfer station opens on January 3, 2012, the charge for trees over three inches in diameter will resume,” she said. “We appreciate your patience and cooperation with the debris pickup process and regulations.”

“With nearly 265 miles of road and more than 9,000 residences, the debris program placed considerable demands on our public works staff and contract services,” Mrs Llodra said.

“We are glad to be done with this work ahead of any winter weather and hope to not have this same need again in the near future,” she added.
