Local Agency Supports AmeriCares

William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty, and Litchfield Hills Sotheby’s International Realty recently participated in a special AmeriCares event to provide support to those in need in Guatemala. Agents from the three partner firms donated approximately $35,000 to AmeriCares, which will be used toward providing medical and humanitarian aid to the more than 50 percent of Guatemalans who live in poverty.

The 25th annual AmeriCares Airlift Benefit “A Journey of Hope” raised more than $1.2 million for the organization’s relief efforts worldwide. The sold-out event attracted 750 guests on September 29, to the Panorama Hangar at Westchester County Airport. The highlight of the evening was the airlift to Guatemala. Seventy-five guests, including seven representatives from William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, departed the gala on a chartered plane to Guatemala. The selected representatives from the company had the opportunity to witness firsthand how their donations make a difference in the lives of impoverished Guatemalans.

The 24-hour trip included visits to clinics and hospitals as well as homes for children and the elderly. Participants also were introduced to partners of AmeriCares, including the Order of Malta, a religious order that operates important health care programs in Guatemala.

“I am very proud of everyone from our companies who participated in this event and generously gave to this vital humanitarian organization,” said Paul E. Breunich, president and chief executive officer of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty and Litchfield Hills Sotheby’s International Realty. “AmeriCares has a powerful impact in areas all around the world where aid is needed, and those of us who were able to see for themselves the work this organization does were very moved by the experience. I am thrilled to be at the helm of a company that is so passionate about supporting such important causes.”
