IRS ProblemSolving Day
IRS Problem
Solving Day
HARTFORD â The IRS will open its doors on November 6 in 35 cities across the United States, including Hartford, in a special Saturday effort to help people fix their tax problems.
The event marks the second anniversary of Problem Solving Day, an IRS trouble-shooting program that has helped more than 57,000 taxpayers â about 600 of them from Connecticut.
âWeâre really sold on this program, and so are the taxpayers,â acting IRS director William M. Caine said. âIn some cases, issues that might have taken weeks to get sorted out were resolved in just one sit-down meeting. Weâve reconsidered audits and penalties, worked out a variety of repayment arrangements, and satisfied requests for technical and procedural explanations.â
In Hartford, the event will be held from 9 am until 3 pm at the IRS office at 135 High Street. Taxpayers can call 860/756-4556 to make an appointment, although walk-ins will also be accepted.
