Program On Osteoporosis

DANBURY — Osteoporosis is a major public health threat for more than 28 million Americans, 80 percent of whom are women. According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 10 million individuals already have the disease in the United States today, which, left untreated, can progress painlessly until bones become so weak that even a sudden strain, bump or fall causes bones to break.

Find out how this debilitating disease can be prevented and treated at the next Danbury Hospital Medical Town Meeting on Tuesday, December 14. The program will take place from 7 to 8:30 pm at the hospital’s auditorium located at 24 Locust Avenue, Danbury.

Featured speakers will be Michael Candito, a physical therapist at the Main Street Physical Rehabilitation Center, and Socorro Vargas, MD, Department of Medicine, Section of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Danbury Hospital. They will provide the latest information about the recommended strategies for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. Prior to the program a screening will be held  in the auditorium foyer from 6 to 7 pm to evaluate your risk for osteoporosis.

Ample time will be provided for audience questions. Medical Town Meetings are co-sponsored by Danbury Hospital and the Danbury Office of Physicians Services, PC and are free and open to the public.
