Model Ts To Muscle Cars At The Homesteads, Sunday

The Homesteads at Newtown’s 2nd Annual Antique Auto Show, an event to satisfy car lovers of all ages while benefiting The Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut, will be presented Saturday, August 16. The show will run from 11 am to 2 pm at The Homesteads at Newtown, a senior living and rental community at 166 Mount Pleasant Road (Route 6) in Newtown.

George Mattegat of Newtown, who is organizing the show, says: “This year we’re expecting to roll in two famed clubs, the Packard Club and the Model T Club. They always draw a big crowd ... people really love them!”

Linda Silberstein, owner of The Homesteads at Newtown, relates, “Last year we had a nice turnout for a first-year event, and some sorely needed funds were raised for a worthy cause. We’re delighted to be hosting the show again. It’s a quality, family event.”

Prizes will be awarded in two categories: Best Antique Car and Best Muscle Car.

“The prizes guarantee we’ll have a great mix of marvelous machines for folks to see,” Mr Mattegatt pointed out.

Other highlights of the day will include music from the 40s and 50s with well known area DJ Vince Lemenza. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and door prizes.

Admission is free. All food and beverage proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut.

For directions or additional information call Kerry Cardinal at The Homesteads at Newtown, 426-8118.
