Lawrence J. Wood

Lawrence J. Wood, 60, beloved husband of Susan C. (Gabbey) Wood of Coventry, died June 14 at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Besides his wife, he leaves his mother-in-law, Mary Gabbey of Coventry; a nephew, Leonard and his wife Peg Wood of Newtown; brothers-in-law, John Gabbey of Manchester, and William Gabbey of Coventry; nephews, Charles and his wife Gail Wood of Monroe; Brian and his wife Patty Wood of Bridgeport, and Alan and his wife Joanne Wood of Fairfield; nieces, Louise and her husband Frederick Miller of Fairfield, Sharon and her husband Michael Chaco of Milford, Donna Taylor of East Haven, and Linda Bain of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and sisters-in-law, Alma Knight and Mary Wood, both of Fairfield.

Born in Bridgeport on April 1, 1944, son of the late Joseph N. and Julia A. (Evans) Wood, he had lived in Manchester before moving to Coventry nine months ago. He had worked for the Ingram Book Co, formerly of East Windsor, was a member of the North United Methodist Church, Manchester, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Associations, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden CT 06450. Samsel & Cameron Funeral Home, South Windsor, has care of arrangements.
