Celebration Saturday Afternoon
When Daryl Ifkovic wanted to take her framing business from a full- to part-time level, she didnât want her gallery â Grey Horse Gallery & Framing â to disappear. With the help of quiet financial partners and artists, Grey Horse Gallery has become River Glen Fine Arts Gallery, still located at 3 Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook (in the Masonic Temple). Ms Ifkovic will continue to run Grey Horse Framing from that location, on a part-time basis.
A formal gallery opening and reception for its first show is planned for Saturday, December 11, from 1 to 4 pm. Paintings in pastel, oil and watercolor by Rainie Crawford, Frank Federico, Leslie Lillien Levy, Dick McEvoy, Alain J. Picard & Peter Seltzer, and sculpture by Sterett-Gittings Kelsey, will all be part of the galleryâs first group exhibition.
Most of the artists plan to be in attendance on Saturday afternoon, as will Carol Garbarino, who has taken on the role of gallery director.
Wine and hors dâoeuvres will be served, and the public is invited to join the celebration of Sandy Hookâs new artistic venture.
In keeping with the spirit of the holidays, ten percent of all sales between now and Christmas will be donated to Family Counseling center and Newtown Scholarship Association.
Snow date, if necessary, will be December 18.
River Glen Fine Arts Galleryâs regular hours will be Tuesday from noon to 4 pm (which is when Ms Ifkovic will be working), Thursday evenings from 7 to 9, and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm. The gallery can be reached at 270-1199 or RiverGlenGallery@yahoo.com.
