A Dream Come True

To the Editor,

The 4th Grade American Youth Football team finished their season as the AYF National Champions in the 10 and Under Unlimited Weight Division! After finishing the regular season 9-0 they traveled to Florida last week to play the Osceola All-Star team from Central Florida. This team consisted of the top players from the Mid Florida Football Conference; so they were taken by surprise to face such a talented Connecticut team. We beat the Panthers in a best out of three series. The boys faced the toughest challenge of the season and rose to the occasion. This was a great experience for the boys and the memories will last a lifetime! We would like to thank everyone who made this trip possible. The donations and generosity of many individuals and businesses exceeded all of our expectations. A special thanks to:

Rob and Elise Frangione for letting us use Coach’s Deli as our fundraising headquarters, Newtown Hardware, Dunkin’ Donuts, Savings Bank of Danbury, and Queen Street Cleaners for allowing us to solicit donations in front of their business.

Also thanks to Mike McNamara and the NYF Board, Quality Machine & Tool, Osman, Ltd, VFW Post 308, Equale & Cirone, Bob Davenport from Nanavaty, Nanavaty & Davenport, LLP, CPAs, Weston Capital Mgmt, LLC, Nighthawk Football Association, Archstone Consulting, Greentree Toyota, Bollore Inc, Newtown Police Union, REI of Newtown, Inc, United Alarm, Inc, Tower Realty, Inc, Maggie McFly’s restaurant, Golfer’s Warehouse, Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor, Sandy Hook Hair Company, Hot Shots Grille, the Inn at Newtown, Sal E Pepe’s Restaurant, and all of the generous individual donations from the many people of Newtown. I would also like to thank the people or businesses that I may have failed to mentioned above.

On behalf of the entire coaching staff many thanks for helping to make this dream come true!

Pat Smith,

Head Coach of the 4th grade National Champions
