The Taunton Press vs Diamond Electrical Supply: The Taunton Press played magnificent in their final game of the season. Katelyn Zaniewski and Emily Longo had strong performances at the plate. Catherine Murphy and Leah Crebbin played incredible defense making some nice stops and throws. For Diamond Electrical Supply, the team played an amazing game against Taunton Press on Saturday. Sarah Walsh-Herde started off the game with a hit up the middle, followed by another hard hit by Ava Foss. Olivia Bonacci was up with the bases loaded and drove everyone in with a hit to the outfield. Hailey Avari made many defensive grabs during the game, as well as Aidan Herbstman who had a great throw to the first baseman Amanda Colonel. It was a great first game of a double header.

Zoar Ridge Stables vs Diamond Electrical Supply: Diamond Electrical Supply played their last game of the season on Saturday against Zoar Ridge Stables. Amanda Colonel and Ava Foss displayed their hitting skills, with both of them hitting hard shots past second base into the outfield. Next Hailey Avari hit a hard ball past third and was able to drive one run home. Then Julia Calabrese came up with the bases loaded and with a great hit past first to clear the bases. Sara Walsh-Herde made a terrific great throw to first and Olivia Bonacci scooped up a hard grounder to second base and stepped on the bag to end the game. For Zoar Ridge Stables, the team played an outstanding final game against Diamond Electric Supply with the impressive defensive prowess of Tessa “the vacuum” Bigwarfe who tallied four outs during the game. Molly Lewis demonstrated her competency at first base, landing two outs in the third inning. Riley Powers established herself as a power hitter along with Molly McCleary who had impressive bats throughout the game.

Newtown Hardware 10, Baum Orthodontics 5: Juliette Cryder’s three-run homerun in 7-5 game gave Newtown Hardware some breathing room from a great comeback by Baum Orthodontics. Ally Hurley and Danielle Blanco had three hits each in the slugfest, while Julia Minchak and Virginia Hess scored two runs each to lead the offensive outburst. Danielle also pitched and made a great fielding play to secure the victory. For Baum Orthodontics, Olivia Grant, Genny Kelly and Paige Connor pitched for their first times and did well. Jenna Reilly, Emma Magazu, Grace Eurell and Nicole Fisher were the big hitters for Baum, while Lydia Shugrue played an outstanding defensive game.

Newtown Hardware 7, Associated Refuse 1: Julie Hess and Carley Nuzzo had three hits each that started rallies that were critical to the Newtown Hardware victory. Natalie Horn, Alison Hechler and Kali Ryder had key RBIs to power the offense. Juliette Cryder hit a triple, had three RBIs and made an unassisted double play that turned the game around. For Newtown Hardware Hanna Marcum and Lola Villenuieve pitched well. Shauna Tucker was heads up on the base running. Emma Shanks and Casey Sullivan both had nice hits.

Carminuccio’s Pizza 16, Papa Al’s Pizza 7: Carminuccio’s unleashed an explosive hitting attack to power their victory in the final regular season game. The entire lineup, Lauren Hayes, Erin Phaneuf, Angie Carriero, Grace McEneaney, Sarah Savinelli, Lennie Urbina, Meghan O’Rourke, Ryssa Swanson, Vaughn Keeney and Emily Hammond had run-producing at bats.

Extreme Fitness Martial Arts 9, Nuzzo Electric 8: In a hard-fought game led by pitchers Larkin Huffman and Beth Savinelli, Extreme Martial Arts pulled out a victory over Nuzzo Electric. Great defensive plays were made by Elizebeth Maker and Chloe Bigwarfe to help with the win. The hits came from all over, including, Shanna Adam, Abi Clarke, Rachel Daum and Allie Eurell to name just a few. A super victory for a very determined team. For Nuzzo Electric, the team was hitting hard. Julia Anderson had a double and a triple with an RBI. Zoe Beals had a triple and a single with an RBI. Heather Stroili, Joy Metzger and Allie Nuzzo all had doubles with RBIs. Kaysie Fisher, Anna Johnston and Emma McGrath all had base hits as well, and Laura LaFreniere had an RBI. On the mound, Kaysie Fisher struck out a batter, threw to first baseman Zoe Beals for an out, and later threw to first baseman Julia Anderson for an out. Also pitching were Anna Johnston and Emma McGrath.

Newtown Savings Bank 4, Extreme Fitness Martial Arts 0: Adelaide Meier pitched two scoreless innings for NSB. Gabrielle Calbo and Christina Sgobbo each helped preserve the shutout with a scoreless inning in their pitching debuts. Both Jacklin Gouveia and Alex Watson had two hits and scored a run for NSB. Sophie Wolfman had a hit, scored a run and was outstanding in the field for NSB. For Extreme Fitness Martial Arts, the team played hard, but it was a rough day for the Extreme Fitness Squad, as they were just unable to get the bats firing the way they wanted. Abi Clarke and Chloe Bigwarfe had a couple of nice solid shots, but great plays by the yellow team robbed Extreme Fitness of any chance at a rally.

Newtown Savings Bank 7, Nuzzo Electric 0: Newtown Savings Bank continued its torrid pace at the plate. Kendra Saunders and Nicki DaPra led the offensive attack for NSB with three hits each. Noel Carbone added two more hits, including a long double to the outfield. Ally Tolson and Ashley Solomon both had a hit and scored a run for NSB. Erin Burns pitched two scoreless innings and was outstanding fielding her position on the mound for NSB. Sophie Muzzio also pitched a scoreless inning for NSB in her pitching debut. For Nuzzo Electric, Lindsay Dievert had Nuzzo’s only base hit and, on the mound for her first time this season, struck out her first batter. Allie Nuzzo was also exceptional on the mound, striking out batters and catching a pop fly for an out. On first base, Julia Anderson got three batters out, with help from Emma McGrath.

Michael Scott Financial Group 7, Blueline Designs 7: For Michael Scott Financial Group, Amanda Berry had three hits, drove in two runs and scored a third while turning an unassisted double play as MSFG held off a late rally to tie Blueline Designs. Sydney Marino had two hits, batted in two runs and also scored a run. Lindsey Sherwood also had three hits and performed well on the mount. Samantha Black pitched strongly in relief. For Blueline Brianna Giglio and Nickole Lillis made their debuts on the pitching mound with two strikeouts for Giglio and three for Lillis. Great defensive play action was made by Emily Krasnickas, Lillis, Sienna Cummings and Chloe Freedman with her debut behind the plate as catcher. Casey McLean, Giglio, Lilis, Rose Wheway and Freedman each scored a run. Cummings scored two runs, Krasnickas, Sasha Allen, and Vanessa Tucker each had RBIs.

Nuzzo Electric 9, Michael Scott Financial Group 5: For Nuzzo Electric, Lauryn Ankers had a hit with the bases loaded that brought all three runners home. Laura LaFreniere had a triple and two singles, Allie Nuzzo had a double, and Anna Johnston, Joy Metzger, Zoe Beals and Kaysie Fisher all had singles with RBIs. With Heather Stroili pitching, Zoe Beals caught two pop flies and got another batter out at first.

Peace Love and Cupcakes 17, WellBaskets.com 15: For Peace Love and Cupcakes, the offense was led by Samantha Cody, Lauren Villamana, Katie Reilly, Kaitlyn Pierce and Kelly Merrick. Samantha walked twice, singled, doubled and scored three times. Lauren tripled, singled and drove in four runs. Katie walked, singled twice and scored three times and Kelly had three walks a single and scored three times. Kaitlyn Pierce pitched very well, while Jillian Gibney and Cassidy Datin had strong games defensively. For WellBaskets.com, Isabella Luciano pitched a scoreless inning with further contribution from her usual strong bat. Alexis Tucker also pitched well. Annie Hoffman had a hit into centerfield for a double. Kaelana Dauber contributed with three singles and Kayla O’Sullivan had two and scored twice. Defensively, Allison Silkowski made a great out at the plate putting the tag on the runner, and Joanna Vodola caught a fly ball which retired the inning. Courtney Demeglio chipped in with strong defense as well.

Claim Services International 15, WellBaskets.com 7: Claim Services International jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Pitchers Sydney Flint, Sarah Spillane and Ashley Gong each gave strong performances with Cassidy Keller and Kelsey Nicholson catching. Kelsey’s leadoff single in the first inning setup the momentum on offense with Tina DeMaio driving in two runs. Caitlyn Linden opened up the third with a triple and after three the CSI Penguins were up 10-4. In the fourth, Ashley Gong and Cassidy Keller singled, Jackie Sgobbo doubled and Sarah Spillane singled scoring Hanna Bigwarfe for the fifth run in the inning. The CSI defense came up big with some great fly ball catches and turned some solid ground balls into key outs to keep Wellbaskets.com off the bases. For WellBaskets.com, Kaelana Dauber, Tegan Doherty, Jacklin Gouveia, Lexi Tucker, Rachel O’Grady and Kayla O’Sullivan all contributed singles in a tough game against CSI. Annie Hoffman crushed the ball for a home run resulting in two RBIs. Kayla O’Sullivan at shortstop and Joanna Vodola at second made several incredible throws to Rachel O’Grady at first to deny base hits.

New England Bounce About 17, Peace, Love and Cupcakes 10: NEBA was down by four runs after PLC’s first at bat but came back with five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Lauren Wilcox and Emily Bell limited PLC’s hitters with excellent pitching. Lauren also contributed at the plate with a key double. Casey Muckell, Emily Bell and Sarah Mawdsley executed a decisive double play to slow a threat by PLC in the last inning. Sarah also hit a hard single for an RBI. For Peace Love and Cupcakes, Cassidy Datin led off the game with homerun, Samantha Cody, Sophie Eckert and Madison Fusaro had great offensive games. Samantha had three singles and scored three times. Sophie has two singles and drove in two runs. Madison singled, walked and drove in a run. Kelly Merrick and Kaitlyn Pierce pitched very well, while Alexa Horkachuck and Jillian Gibney were solid defensively.

New England Bounce About 18, Claim Services International 8: Sarah Spillane, Ashley Gong and Annie Hoffman handled the pitching duties with Hanna Bigwarfe and Kelsey Nicholson behind the plate. Tina DeMaio, Mee Mee Filan and Sammie Strocchia each singled and scored. Jackie Sgobbo doubled in the fifth to drive in two runs. The CSI Penguins scored five in the fifth but were unable to get the bats going against strong pitching from Lauren Wilcox in the sixth.

New England Bounce About 10, WellBaskets.com 9: NEBA scored five runs led by a home run by Grace Frost. Despite the early lead NEBA found themselves down by two runs in their final at bat. After a key hit by Haley Ryan (her third hit of the game) to load the bases, Shannon Lynch hit a walk-off single into right field that scored the winning three runs. Shannon also pitched one inning to keep the game close. For WellBaskets.com, the team battled hard and came up just short in a very exciting, well-played game against NEBA. The teams were tied with five runs apiece after the second inning. NEBA started a rally at the bottom of the third with the first two batters scoring, but Tegan Doherty at shortstop shut it down by catching a fly ball and turning a double play involving 2nd baseman Kaelana Dauber. Doherty then ended the inning with a throw to 1st baseman Joanna Vodola. WellBaskets.com jumped ahead 9-7 in the fourth inning with solid hits from Bella Luciano, Annie Hoffman and Kaelana Dauber. NEBA managed to score 3 runs in the last inning to win the game by one run.

Claim Services International 18, Peace Love and Cupcakes 11: Sarah Spillane and Ashley Gong again gave strong pitching performances. Jackie Sgobbo singled to right in the first driving in two. Skylar Kneski, Mee Mee Filan, Jenna Carvalho and Sydney Flint each singled with Hanna Bigwarfe clearing the bases on a triple to left center in the second to tie up the game 7-7. The CSI Penguins’ defense held in the third and the offense, led by Tina DeMaio and Jackie Sgobbo, put up another five runs. Cassidy Keller and Kelsey Nicholson played a pivotal part of the defense behind the plate keeping the pitchers focused and the opposing runners in check throughout the game. For Peace Love and Cupcakes, the offense was led by Jillian Gibney, Sophie Eckert, Madison Fusaro and Kelly Merrick. Jillian walked twice, scored twice. Sophie had two singles and drove in two runs. Madison also drove in two runs. Kelly had two singles, a walk and drove in two runs. Kaitlyn Pierce pitched very well. Tegan Doherty made a great defensive play at first, catching the ball high in the air and tagging the runner. Jillian Gibney was solid behind the plate, and Avery Tananbaum had a strong defensive game as well.

Newtown faced Brookfield, in a rematch, for the championship. Brianna Baranowski slammed a monster homerun to bring Newtown to within two runs. The game featured a lights out pitching performance from Gillian Galante with fine assistance from Emily Bell and a scoreless inning turned in by Tonya Tucker. Rose Pagett, Annie Hoffman Julia Bell and Lexi Tucker all made plays in the field. Tina DeMaio’s bat chimed in and Gillian Galante roped a triple with Kathryn Kerins, Emma Hungaski and Hannah Bigwarfe all contributing on offense and defense.

Newtown Hawks 4, Ridgefield Rebels 3: The Hawks defense was led by Lauren Wilcox, who struck out 18 batters. Haley Ryan, playing second base and Kelly Merrick at first base, both made several defensive plays. At bat, Shannon Lynch, Isabella Luciano and Tegan Doherty each had a single, and Ryan contributed two singles. The seventh inning rally was led by Wilcox who hit a triple resulting in two runs, followed by Merrick who came up to bat to hit in the winning run. The Hawks thank their sponsor, Rings End.

Newtown Hawks 12, Brookfield 3: Lauren Wilcox and Tegan Doherty shared pitching duties and each gave a great performance. Haley Ryan and Emily Bell each made great plays in the field, and catcher Isabella Luciano made an outstanding play at home plate holding off an additional run, and Samantha Strocchia made a picture-perfect catch in left field. Offensively, Strocchia had a bunt that resulted in an RBI, Shannon Lynch had a base hit, Ryan had three singles, Cassidy Keller had two singles and two RBI, Wilcox also had two singles and put an RBI in the book, Kelly Merrick gave an outstanding batting performance with three singles, a double and an RBI, Bell hit an RBI single, and Doherty also drove in a run.
