Students Donate âBears That Careâ
Teddy bears were donated by students from Head Oâ Meadow to the Danbury Hospital Pediatric Department on Wednesday, December 10, when the schoolâs PTA Community Outreach Coordinator Amy Schmidt brought the bears to Pediatric Nurse Manager Debbie Henriques, RNC.
According to Ms Schmidt, the students were collecting the teddy bears for the past five weeks, and dropped off their donations into a âBear Binâ each Friday at the school. The teddy bears come with a heart-shaped tag with the first name of the student who donated it, then added a heart made of felt to a poster that read âBears That Care.â
The schoolâs staff made a âbear-o-meterâ on the side of the collection box to measure the success of the teddy bear collection process. âThe students at Head Oâ Meadow Elementary enjoyed the Bears That Care collection. To touch the heart of a sick child is something that really makes the true meaning of this season shine,â said Ms Schmidt.
