Newtown Schools’

Cook For Many Years

Aurore T. Kovacs, 87, of Nunnawauk Meadows, Newtown, died September 5, in Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late George Kovacs. Daughter of Laudia (Belanger) and Thomas Madore, Mrs Kovacs was born in Eagle Lake, Maine, February 13, 1922.

During World War II she worked for Remington Arms in Bridgeport and Binghamton, N.Y. She had been a resident of Newtown for 63 years, and before retiring she was a cook for many years for the Newtown school system. She was also previously employed by Chintz -N- Prints of Newtown and Gordon Fraser Greeting Cards. Mrs Kovacs was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church.

She had lived at Nunnawauk Meadows for nine years and served on the resident board there.

Mrs Kovacs is survived by two sons, George T. Kovacs and his wife, Thongmee, of Newtown, and Michael J. Kovacs and his wife, Lori, of Palm City, Fla.; three daughters, Judith Kovacs of Seattle, Wash., Janet Buonaiuto and her husband, John, of Washington, Conn., Linda Gollenberg and her husband, Gary, of Southbury; and her seven grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church Thursday morning, September 10. Interment followed in Newtown Village Cemetery.
