State Schools

Fall Short

HARTFORD (AP) — Connecticut education officials say 40 percent of the state’s public schools failed to meet performance standards this year under the federal No Child Left Behind law.

A report released on September 1 by the state Department of Education says 406 of 987 schools failed to make “adequate yearly progress” under the federal law. That is down slightly from the 408 schools that did not meet the standards last year.
