Peter Vicinanza

Photographer, Author, Entrepreneur

Peter H. Vicinanza, 67, formerly of Newtown, died Thursday, October 4, at his home in Wolcott.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Faith (Smith) Vicinanza; his son Gregg Vicinanza of New Jersey; daughter Melissa Vicinanza of New Jersey; three stepchildren, Michael Arroyo of Southbury, Aaron Arroyo of Newtown, and Christina Arroyo of Wolcott; and eight grandchildren.

Born in Astoria, N.Y., on April 30, 1940, Mr Vicinanza was the son of Mario and Ethel (Leonard) Vicinanza. Peter was a retired information technology executive, photographer, author, and entrepreneur. He has had flash fiction and poetry vignettes published in periodicals Bent Pin Quarterly and Connecticut Review, among others, and his photography has been on exhibit around the state.

In 2005, Peter and Faith ventured on a 2,500-mile bicycle trip from Key West, Fla., to St Stephan, Canada, over a three-month period. “On The Road” is an exhibit of their photography that is primarily focused or gathered from the digital photographs taken during that trip. That exhibit was on view at C.H. Booth Library in Newtown during the month of September.

Friends will gather to celebrate Mr Vicinanza’s life on Sunday, October 14, from 2 to 6 pm, at a family home. If you wish to attend, contact Faith Vicinanza at faith.Vicinanza@earthlink.net for details. If you are unable to attend and wish to share a remembrance about Peter, you may do so by emailing your story to Faith.
