The staff of Newtown Youth Services would like to extend our very best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year!

Individual Youth and Family Counseling Available. Call for further information.

Entertainment Books 2005 are available once again. The cost is $22 and the book may be used right away. Call NYS to arrange your purchase.

Attention High School Students — Community service opportunities are available. Hawley and Middle Gate schools are looking for volunteers to run some afternoon classes. If you have an interest or talent in any of the above areas and would like to donate your time, call NYS.

Parent Programs

Newtown Parent Connection — The next Parent Connection forum will be held Wednesday, January 19, at 7 pm, in the Newtown Middle School auditorium. Substance abuse expert Wendy Davenson is the guest speaker. For more information, visit the Newtown Parent Connection website at www.newtownparentconnection.org.

Hope and Support Group — Parents with questions or concerns about your child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances are invited to attend the Hope and Support group. It meets Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in the Parents’ Corner. All are welcome.

Youth Programs

NYCAAP — An AIDS awareness group for high school students  meets Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.

NOSUDS — Will meet on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Children of Divorce — Grades 1 through 6. Meets first and third Monday of the month. Next meeting will be January 3,  from 6 to 7:15 pm.

SibShops — Grades 1 through 6. Usually meets the last Monday of the month from 5 to 7 pm. However, the next meeting will be January 24 and is ongoing through May.

There is no fee for either Children of Divorce or SibShops.

All programs will take place at Newtown Youth Services, 10 Glen Road in Sandy Hook, unless noted. For further information, or to register, contact NYS at 270-4335.
