Former Newtown Woman Dies In Fall From Balcony
ST PETERSBURG, FLA. â Police are investigating the untimely death of a former Newtown woman who fell three stories to the ground from a condominium balcony early on the morning of Saturday, June 9.
Police said that Alexandra A. Gardner, 24, fell to her death at about 1:30 am when she may have been attempting to gain entry from the buildingâs exterior into her friendâs locked apartment.
A friend tried to save Ms Gardner, but lost his grip on her, according to an Associated Press report on the incident.
Ms Gardner fell to her death from a third floor balcony that extended from one of the condo buildingâs corridors, according to police. She apparently was attempting to move from the corridorâs balcony to the balcony of her friendâs apartment.
Au autopsy was performed on Ms Gardnerâs remains and the results of toxicology tests are pending, according to Michael Puetz, the public information officer for St Petersburg police.
The cause and manner of her death is pending the medical examinerâs report, Mr Puetz said June 14.
There is no evidence of foul play or of a homicide, he said, adding that, âPolice are considering this as a possible accidental death.â
Ms Gardner was raised in Newtown, and graduated from Newtown High School in 2006, before returning to Florida, according to her obituary.
