Church Hill Crash

Motorist Michael Sedor, 84, of 90 Currituck Road, who was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer westbound on Church Hill Road about 6:15 pm February 12, stopped for a vehicle which had stopped in the westbound lane near the town’s teen center, police said.

Westbound motorist Joseph Myers-Bittner, 16, of 307 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 1994 Chevrolet station wagon, struck the rear end of the Blazer, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Myers-Bittner a written warning for following too closely.

Botsford Accident

Motorist Jesse R. Foust, 24, of Naylor, Missouri, who was driving a 1995 Buick Regal southbound on Botsford Hill Road February 13, was unable to make a curve in the road and skidded across the northbound lane, left the road and landed on a snowbank, police said.

Foust was not injured. Police issued Foust a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Three-Vehicle Collision

Police report a motor vehicle accident on South Main Street February 7 involving a pickup truck, automobile and sport-utility vehicle.

Motorist Carol Ann Leongini, 58, of Alexandria, Virginia, who was driving a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer, slowed for traffic, after which motorist John Knepple, Jr, 70, of Trumbull, who was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, slowed down behind the Mercury, police said.

 Motorist Anthony Cuomo, 29, of 31 Rock Ridge Road, who was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, hit the Oldsmobile from behind, pushing the Oldsmobile into the rear end of the Mercury, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Cuomo a written warning for following too closely.

DWI Charge

Police report they observed motorist Paul R. Rumbin, 47, of Ansonia driving erratically westbound on Church Hill Road about 8:20 pm February 12.

Police said they stopped Rumbin and investigated, charging him with driving while intoxicated and traveling unreasonably fast.

After processing, police released Rumbin on a promise to appear February 24 in Danbury Superior Court.

 

Car Vs Tanker

 Westbound motorist Heather M. Benson, 21, of Watertown, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet coupe on Interstate-84 east of Exit 10 about 8 am February 8, slowed abruptly for traffic and was struck from behind by westbound trucker Kevin J. Lautenschlager, 23, of Watertown, who was driving an oil tanker truck, state police said.

State police said Lautenschlager failed to drive a reasonable distance apart.

 

 DWI Charge

Police report they stopped motorist Michael Clark, 37, of 6 Crestwood Drive, Sandy Hook, about 7 pm February 16 on Church Hill Road. Police said they charged Clark with driving while intoxicated and passing in a no-passing zone.

After processing, police released Clark on his own recognizance for a February 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges. 

I-84 Crash

State police report that motorist Rajan Govin, 54, of West Hartford, who was driving a 2000 Honda Accord westbound in the left lane on Interstate-84 east of Exit 10 about 11 am February 13, lost control of the auto and struck the median guardrail.

Govin was not injured. State police said Govin failed to drive in the proper lane.
