Sandy Hook Man Dies Following Waterbury Motorcycle Accident
WATERBURY — A Sandy Hook man died on October 17 as a result of injuries he received in a motorcycle accident on October 15 in Waterbury.
Dustin Gregory Hanson, 23, of Sandy Hook died at Waterbury Hospital.
According to published reports in The Republican-American of Waterbury, Mr Hanson was riding a sport-style motorcycle northward on Pine Street, when a Subaru station wagon traveling on Woodlawn Terrace, which was driven by Ixia Garcia, 57, of Waterbury, pulled out in front of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision, with the motorcycle striking the Subaru.
Mr Hanson, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was hospitalized following the crash.
A spokeswoman for the chief state medical examiner office said that an autopsy found that Mr Hanson’s accidental death was caused by blunt force injuries to his head and neck.
According to a separate newspaper report, Waterbury police charged Garcia with failure to obey a stop sign and are continuing their investigation into the incident. Police collected forensic evidence after the accident.
Repeated attempts by The Newtown Bee to obtain information on the accident from Waterbury police were unsuccessful.
According to his obituary, Mr Hanson will be honored with a memorial service at Newtown United Methodist Church in Sandy Hook on Saturday, October 24. A US Navy veteran, he will receive full military honors.
