AMERICA’S LONGEST RUNNING MONTHLY STAMP SHOW MARKS 36TH ANNIVERSARY

/gs set 6/25; 744158

EAST WINDSOR, CONN. — A monthly show that started in an 1,100-square-foot room in July 1972, and now occupies up to four times that space each month, will hold a 36th Anniversary Gala on Sunday, July 13. The Connecticut Stamp Collecting Festival will be held in the Yankee Ballroom of the Clarion Inn (formerly the Best Western), at 161 Bridge Street. Show hours are 10 am to 4 pm, parking and admission are free.

All the attractions that have made this the most successful monthly stamp show in the country will be offered at the July 13 event. The 36th anniversary celebration will feature 20 major dealers from throughout the Northeast filling more than 40 tables with stamps, covers and postcards “from just about every country there is or ever was” — everything from the world’s first stamp issue to the latest new issues from the United States and around the world, as well as popular topical themes from art to zoology.

The advantage of a long-running show like the Connecticut Festival is that the sellers know the difference between a low price for damaged goods and good value for excellent quality, so buyers can come to the show and find quality they can see and feel.

Participating dealers also are prepared to answer collectors’ questions on buying, selling or caring for a collection.

The Clarion Inn is just off Exit 45 of I-91: left off I-91 North, right off I-91 South, first left after Sunoco station. For information, 860-635-3351.
