Colleen E. Gantnier, daughter of Kevin and Barbara Gantnier, recently won first-place at the stateâs VICA-skills USA Competition. She will now go on to compete on the national level during a competition to be held in Kansas City, Mo., June 21â25. Colleen, a senior in the Culinary Arts program at Henry Abbott Tech in Danbury, also obtained a $3,000 scholarship, renewable annually, to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. She will be attending this fall pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in baking and pastry arts.Â
Larisa Zaleta received Deanâs List honors for the fall 2003 semester from Providence College in Providence, R.I.
Nicole Potucek and Amanda Reagle, both of Sandy Hook, received Deanâs List honors for the fall 2003 semester from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston.
Jodi Miklaszewski of Sandy Hook will be graduating cum laude from Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication. Jodi is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Salisbury and has been granted a graduate assistantship. She expects to receive her MBA in May 2005.
