WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Phillips Collection will present a symposium on Saturday, September 15, from 10 am to 5 pm on “Issues of Content: Contemporary and Modern Art Museums Today.”

Leading scholars from the United States, Spain and Brazil will join with directors of four American art museums, including Neal Benezra of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Kathy Halbreich of the Walker Art Center, to examine issues in museums’ choices of art, space and the challenges of balancing artists’ intentions with expectations of museum audiences.
