Quilt Show
?âAmazementâ is the title of the Scrap Bag Art Quilters annual show April 28 to May 26 at the Cyrenius H. Booth Library, and you will be amazed at the originality and finesse. The quilters live in Newtown and surrounding towns. The show will be open during regular library hours.

Childrenâs Programs
?Nutmeg Book Discussion: Students in grades 4 through 6 are invited to join an informal book discussion on Wednesday, April 26, at 6:30 pm, in the Childrenâs Library. We will discuss Granny Torrelli Makes Soup by Sharon Creech. âTwelve-year old Rosie and her best friend donât always get along, but Granny Torrelli seems to know how to make things right again with her interesting stories and recipes. Itâs easier to remember whatâs important about love, life, and friendship when Granny Torrelli makes soup.â Call the childrenâs department, 426-3851, to register.
For Young Adults
?Letâs talk about For Freedom: the Story of a French Spy by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley, a 2007 YA Nutmeg nominee. Our next Young Adult book discussion will be held on Wednesday, May 10, from 4 to 5 pm in the Story Room. Suzanne just wants to focus on her wish to become an opera star, but when Nazi troops invade, she decides to become a spy for the Allies. These monthly book discussions for grades 5â9+, or any young person who has read the book, are co-sponsored by Reed Intermediate School, and books are available at both libraries. ?Itâs A Wrap For Independent Film Series: The May selection for te libraryâs Indie Film Series, Agata and the Storm, will not be shown in May.
The SCAN Spring Art Show & Sale will be in the meeting room that weekend. Please stop by and enjoy the art of our Newtown artists, and watch the paper for the new Film Series, which will begin in June.
We will be showing a wonderful assortment of new foreign and independent films.
?Book Nook Note: Spring has come to The Book Nook. A great selection of gently used books are available on gardening, fly fishing, golf, baseball, and other warm weather pastimes. Located on the second floor next to the circulation desk.
