Verdi’s ‘Otello’ Scheduled For Screening

SOUTHBURY — The Southbury Senior Center’s “Afternoon at the Opera” series will feature the Franco Zeffirelli’s adapted version of Verdi’s Otello at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 23, in the Pomperaug Woods auditorium, 80 Heritage Road.

Filmed in 1986, the cast includes Placido Domingo, Katia Ricciarelli, and Justino Diaz with the La Scala Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Lorin Maazel. The showing will last two hours.

The public is invited free of admission, although space is limited. Refreshments will be served.

Visitors are requested to park in the unnumbered spaces in the rear of the building. In the event of inclement weather, the closing of schools in Southbury will indicate program cancellation.
