For about 15 years, I've been a financial consultant. I have a specialty and expertise in divorce financial planning. I help people through the divorce process and do divorce mediation. I'm a certified money coach, too. I help individuals, or couples, identify and transcend their negative patterns and beliefs around money. Also, although it's not a paid occupation, I started a nonprofit called Love Has A Home Inc. The goal is to spread more love in the world through the message that love has a home here.Occupation:

Family: My wife Kristen and I met on a blind date in January 2002. I'm a third-generation blind date marriage. We have one son, Robbie. He's 10 and in fourth grade at Middle Gate.

Pets: No pets now, but my son is dying to adopt a dog. He loves to watch Pit Bulls & Parolees and wants us to go to Louisiana and rescue a dog.

How long have you lived in Newtown? Seven years. We were living in Southbury before, so we wanted to live a little closer to my work in Westport. Years ago, I had an office here in town and really fell in love with Newtown.

What do you like to do in your free time? I volunteer with Cub Scouts. I'm a den leader and am on the leadership committee for Pack 270. I'm also the treasurer for Two Coyotes Wilderness School. When there is some downtime, sports are a big part of our lives. If it's nice out, we'll go shoot hoops or be on the baseball fields practicing. Having quality downtime at home together is also something I cherish because we are all so busy.

Do you have a favorite book? Most of the books I read are about spirituality and philosophy. I'm just fascinated by the big mysteries in life. By looking for the common thread throughout religion and spirituality, I've found it's all about love and unity. It's had a lot of influence on my nonprofit.

What is your favorite travel destination? My family has land in Rockingham, Vt., that has been in the family for 50 years. It has a cabin in the woods where we can unplug and be in nature. It's so peaceful.

What is the best part about Newtown? The families. Once our son got involved in school, Scouts, and sports, we met so many great families. There are so many amazing, caring people in this town.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My father. He taught me a lot about good values and integrity. Also, he taught me a lot of practical things like how to fix a car and carpentry; he was very handy.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? I'd like to sit down and get to know my dad's father, who I never met. In World War II, he was leading a tank battalion liberating a village in France after D-Day and was shot and killed. That village named their main street after my grandfather. I had the privilege of actually going there and visiting that town with my mom and dad.

Who is your favorite musical artist? I really love the band Genesis. They're great musicians.

Do you have a favorite TV show? My wife and I loved Friday Night Lights when that was out. Now I mostly watch sports with my son and we'll also watch his favorite TV show, North Woods Law.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given?

What is your proudest accomplishment? I used to be a Connecticut State Trooper, that was my former career. Graduating from the State Police Academy ranks pretty high up there. Since my junior year in high school that was what I wanted. It was all I could think about, so the day I graduated was a dream come true.
