Wednesday Night Poetry Series Relocating
Wednesday Night Poetry Series Relocating
Now in its 14th year, the Wednesday Night Poetry Series (WNPS) will make a move from its current location at The Blue Z Coffee House in Newtown to The Garage (a/k/a Newtown Teen Center), at 53 Church Hill Road, effective immediately.
WNPS will continue to follow its regular schedule: open mic sign-ups begin at 7:30 pm, with poets then reading from 7:45 until 8:45, and each weekâs featured poet then reading at 8:45. The series has hosted special guests include poets, spoken word artists, monologists and storytellers, acoustic performances by songwriters and other musicians.
A $3 donation will be requested at the new location, which will also host a poetry editing workshop at the conclusion of each weekâs featured poet section. Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of poems they would like to work on.
The featured poet for June 23 will be Kim Bridgford, a professor of English at Fairfield University and editor of Dogwood and Mezzo Cammin. The following week, Van Hartmann â whose work has appeared in numerous journals and whose first book-length poetry collection, Shiva, has been published by texture press â will be the featured poet.
Featured artists and reminders about WNPS can be found in the Enjoy calendar each week, as well as online at wedpoetry.wordpress.com.
