Porcoâs Karate Announces Winter Gup Test Results
Porcoâs Karate Academy held its quarterly testing event on December 3. The test was for students of all ages and ranks from the Sandy Hook studio.
In two hours, the students demonstrated all they had learned, physically and mentally, to a panel of instructors. Three special guests from other Tang Soo Do studios, Grandmaster Robert Beaudoin (Waterbury), Master Efrain Valentin (Meriden), and Mr. Dan Farrelly (Waterbury) also attended.
Sections of the test included: Hand and feet technique combinations, forms, weapon forms, self-defense techniques involving hands, feet, and grabs, free fighting, rolls and break falls, and an oral test on different aspects of Tang Soo Do. For different sections of the test, a black belt from the panel led the students in showing Master Michael Porco Sr. what they can do through hard work and with high spirits. Afterwards, everyone celebrated as each student received his or new rank.
Since 1986, Porcoâs Karate Academy has helped students learn the 3,000-year-old Korean art of Tang Soo Do and also how to become better people physically and mentally. Tang Soo Do is focused on self-defense and self-betterment, and this is the philosophy Porcoâs teaches. Porcoâs Karate Academy is located on 113 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook.
