‘Discovered Classics’ Will Offer A Musical Extravaganza

BROOKFIELD — An evening of music, “Discovered Treasures,” will be presented at Valley Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 25, at 8 pm.

Maxim Vladimiroff, music director for the church, is coordinating the free program in an effort to support Valley’s music and to promote some extraordinary local artists.

“There is a wealth of exceptional musicians in the surrounding area,” he explained, “and we are excited to be able to bring them together to present this musical extravaganza.”

The evening will open with a silent auction at 7:30 pm. Complimentary refreshments, featuring Italian cuisine, will be served.  The concert will begin at 8. During intermission, final viewing for the auction will take place. Winning bids will be announced at the conclusion of the concert and guests will be able to take their purchases home with them that evening.

The artists bring with them years of experience performing throughout the United States and the world. Scheduled to perform are violinist Natalya Shamis, cellist Zakhary Paranyuk, guitarist Jim Hershman, soprano Zoe Vandermeer, and Mr Vladimiroff, performing on piano and harpsichord.

Along with two violins, cello, and soprano, Mr Vladimiroff will be playing the Bettina Baruch Memorial Harpsichord, courtesy of Danbury Music Centre.  This Flemish, single-manual harpsichord was hand built by Zuckermann Harpsichords International and promises to delight listeners with its authentic and exquisite sound.

The evening’s program includes Mozart’s Aria, K.419 for soprano and orchestra; along with works of Vivaldi, Bellini, Paganini, Mozart, Ariosti, and Ysaye. A variety of ensemble combinations of the musicians will perform the music.
