Student Theft
Police report that at about 9 am on October 14, Newtown High School officials and the policeâs school resource officer there learned that a possible theft had occurred the previous day in the boysâ locker room, so they investigated.
A search of a student suspect in the case turned up some checks that were missing in the theft, police said. Consequently, police charged that youth with sixth-degree larceny.
After processing, police released the student into the custody of a parent. The student is scheduled to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on October 31, police said.
Because the person charged is under age 18, the studentâs identity is shielded from public disclosure by state law.
