SNAPSHOT: JUDD DOYLE
Occupation: I am director of manufacturing for Hospital Marketing Services in
Naugatuck, which manufactures medical and surgical products. I have a
bachelor's degree in biology from Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia.
How Long in Newtown: I have lived in Newtown for 15 years. Prior to that, I
moved to Doylestown, Penn. from Stratford.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: Growth and traffic, and the number of homes, and
the size of the homes they're building.
Family: My wife, Marilyn, and I have been married for 23 years. We were
married on July 3 of the Bicentennial weekend in 1976 in New Jersey. As we
were flying out for our honeymoon, we saw the tall ships heading for New York.
Marilyn is a reading specialist at Head O' Meadow School. We have three
daughters; Katie, 19, a sophomore at Ithaca College; Erin, 15, a student at
Newtown High; and Amy, 12, a Middle School student.
Pets: We have a golden retriever named Morgan, a parakeet, and some tropical
fish.
Hobbies: Reading, golf, fishing, and coaching youth sports. I am coaching the
youth soccer travel team my daughter Amy is on. I have coached basketball at
St Rose and for Parks and Recreation.
Favorite Books and Authors: I generally like suspense novels and historical
novels, particularly about World War II and Vietnam. A Newtown author, John
DelVecchio, wrote a great book on Vietnam, The 13th Valley . That was a
terrific one.
Favorite TV Show: E.R. I don't watch that many shows.
Organizations: I'm a member of the Knights of Columbus, in which I have held
several offices, including grand knight. I'm on the board of Newtown Soccer. I
was previously on the board of St Rose School Association and the Parish
Advisory Council and was host town chairman for the Special Olympics World
Games a few years ago.
Most Vivid Memory Of Newtown: The first time I saw Newtown. We took a drive up
this way from Stratford, and we were coming up Main Street and saw the
flagpole. When I saw it, that was it. When we moved back to Connecticut from
Ohio, we wanted to move to Newtown.
Favorite Vacation Spot: Cape Cod. We go every few years, but not as often as I
would like.
Personal Philosophy: To try and treat everybody the way I'd like them to treat
me. To see the good in everybody. It's pretty basic.
