Occupation: I am a CPA with Nanavaty, Nanavaty & Davenport, LLP, certified public accountants, on Church Hill Road. I have been working there since July 1994. I attended all the Newtown schools, beginning with Hawley, and graduated from Newtown High. I have a BBA in accounting from Western Connecticut State University.
How Long in Newtown: I moved to Newtown in 1970 and lived here until I moved to Southbury in 1996. Prior to 1970, I lived in New Jersey.
Biggest Change Seen in Town: The growth in population and development. Iâm more happy about the things that havenât changed, such as Main Street, the local bank, Newtown Savings, still thriving, and the general store, where I worked when I was in school. The borough does an excellent job.
Family: I am single.
Hobbies: I enjoy playing golf, running, playing basketball, and reading.
Favorite Books and Authors: My favorite book and author are The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I also enjoy books by Tom Clancy, Scott Turow, and Clive Cusler.
Favorite TV Show: I watch TV, but donât have any favorite show.
Organizations: I am the new chairperson of the board of directors of Family Counseling Center and belong to two professional organizations, the American Institute of CPAs, and the Connecticut Society of CPAs.
Most Vivid Memory of Newtown: Going to the fireworks and the Labor Day parade. Also, the time it snowed in 1978 when the governor closed down the state, and we walked down Main Street and there were no cars on the road.
Favorite Vacation Spot: The island of Hawaii. We go there once a year. All the Hawaiian islands are beautiful, but there is so much to do there. There are volcanos, the rain forest, golfing, swimming, and snorkeling.
Personal Philosophy: I just try to look for the positive in people and situations and try not to dwell on the negatives. There is too much to enjoy. Why worry about minor things?
