Local Bereavement Support Group

Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut has begun a Bereavement Support Group that will meet in Newtown at the Booth Library on Main Street.

Persons who have lost someone close to them and are experiencing feelings related to this loss are invited to attend the support group meetings. Group counseling is offered free of charge and is open to residents of Newtown and surrounding communities.

The support group will be led by Jennifer Casey, who has a master’s degree in social work. It is part of the Bereavement Program of Regional Hospice, which was honored recently by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals and Healthcare Agencies (JCAHO) as the best program the surveyor had seen in 11 years of surveying.

The groups are held on an ongoing basis on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 pm. The groups will meet July 24, August 14, 28, September 11, 25, and will be ongoing.
