St Rose Holds Food Drive
St Rose Holds Food Drive
The St Rose of Lima Social Concerns Committee conducted its annual Lenten food drive between Saturday, March 29, and Saturday, April 5. St Rose parishioners brought food donations to church on the first weekend. During the week, volunteers sorted the donations to match the needs of nine charitable organizations, and food was provided to several St Rose families in need. On the final Saturday the sorted food was loaded into trucks, vans, and cars of volunteers for delivery to: FAITH Food Pantry in Sandy Hook, and Social Services of Newtown; Shelter of the Cross, Dorothy Day House, and Interfaith AIDS Ministry in Danbury; St Charles Outreach, Thomas Merton House, and Daughters of Charity in Bridgeport, and Spooner House in Derby. Shown sorting food donations are, from left, Liz Meyer, John Dwyer, Rosemarie Cavanaugh, Joan Reynolds, and Terri-Ann Martocci. Passing food down the hall of the parish center for loading trucks are William Chan, Dawn Ringes, Jim Healy, and Zach Sommers. Loading a van for distribution are Bill Coveney (in van), Ron Leddy, and Frank Middleton. ââPhotos, Fred Dwyer
