Seminar For Cancer Caregivers

FARMINGTON –– The University of Connecticut Health Center will offer a daylong support program for the caregivers of cancer patients on Saturday, July 19, at its Farmington campus.

The program will provide an understanding of cancer and cancer therapy. It covers management of symptoms, including fatigue, pain, depression, fever, and changes in eating and bowel functions. It covers family roles and shifts in responsibility during illness, family emotions, and grief reactions, answering children’s concerns about illness and dying, and end of life issues as death approaches.

It also provides information on improving the mental and physical health of the caregiver, understanding stress, and finding and obtaining resources.

The program runs from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and includes lunch. For more information, or to register for the free program, call UConnLink at 800-535-6232.
