Loitering at NHS
Police report that on the morning of May 6, they charged Adam Samuels, 21, of 128 Hanover Road on a warrant listing charges of first degree criminal trespassing and loitering on school grounds. Police said they arrested Samuels on the warrant while he was in Danbury Superior Court in the custody of the state Department of Correction in connection with another criminal matter.
The trespassing and loitering charges stem from a February 27 incident at Newtown High School, according to police. Samuels was arraigned on the two charges in court.
Stolen Goods
After he was stopped by state police while on Interstate 84 on May 6, state police learned that Zachary Dauz, 18, of 27 Paugussett Road was named in an arrest warrant that was held by Newtown police.
Newtown police then charged Dauz with possession of stolen property in connection with a March incident. After processing the arrest, Dauz was released on $1,000 bail for a May 25 appearance in Danbury Superior Court, Newtown police said.
VW Vs Audi
Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Shady Rest Boulevard and Shepaug Road in the Shady Rest section about 6:30 pm May 4. The two autos sideswiped each other. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.
The autos involved in the accident were a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Cindy Cannato-Wahlberg, 44, of 11 Shady Rest Boulevard, and a 1999 Audi A-4 sedan driven by Denise Lawson, 22, of 11 Crossbrook Road, police said.
Alcohol Charge
Police report that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Dennis Mead, 45, of Southbury turned himself in and was charged with delivery of alcohol to a minor.
Police said the charge stems from a February 13 incident in which Mead allegedly acquired alcohol for an unidentified teenager. The incident occurred on Far View Drive, police said.
Police released Mead on a promise to appear in court May 12.
Four Geese
While traveling southward on Route 25 at about 10:26 am on May 7, a 1993 International garbage truck driven by Robert W. Hespeit, Jr, 50, of Monroe slowed down to allow four geese to cross the street, police said.
Southbound motorist German Moreno, 45, of Stratford, who was driving a 1998 Ford Econoline van, then struck the garbage truck from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police gave Moreno a written warning for following too closely.
Passing Violation
At about 4:45 pm on May 6, motorist Van Lam, 30, of Danbury, who was driving a 2003 Subaru Baja southward on South Main Street, near Borough Lane, attempted to pass on the right a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Michael Foley, 58, of Trumbull, police said. The vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police issued Lam a written warning for improper passing.
DUI Arrest
Police report they charged motorist Robert Mauborgne, 43, of 50 High Rock with several offenses following a one-van accident on High Rock Road on May 8. There were no injuries in the accident, police said.
Police said that after investigating, they charged Mauborgne with driving under the influence, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and making an improper turn. Police said Mauborgne is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.
Flowers Swiped
Sometime between 7:30 pm May 5 and 7:30 am May 6, someone stole a variety of freshly installed plants from the ground at the Century 21 real estate office at 48 South Main Street, police report.
The plants include eight lilac bushes, seven blue rug juniper plants, four irises, and one red maple tree. Police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact them at 426-5841.
For Lease
Police report that a âFor Leaseâ sign was found cast aside at 27 Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook. The sign has a white background and red letters. The owner should contact police to claim the sign.
Multiple Charges
Police report they served a warrant against David Eisenbach, 36, of 55 Sugar Street on May 10, listing charges of failure to appear in court, failure to carry a driverâs license, improper use of marker plates, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
The motor vehicle charges stem from an incident early this year. Police said Eisenbach was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges.
Main Street DUI
Police said they saw motorist Inna Baransky, 34, of New Canaan driving a vehicle erratically on Main Street about 12:16 am May 12, so they stopped it to investigate. Police said they charged Baransky with driving under the influence.
Following arrest processing, police released Baransky on $50 bail for a May 27 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant
Police report that on the night of May 11, they arrested Samantha Bellinsky, 26, of Waterbury on a warrant listing charges of second degree failure to appear in court, failure to drive to the right, evading responsibility, and driving under suspension. The motor vehicle charges stem from a 2003 incident.
Police said they held Bellinsky on $1,000 bail for a May 12 court appearance.
Underage Alcohol
While on a special patrol intended to apprehend underage drinkers, police charged two youths with offenses on Bancroft Road on the night of May 7.
Police charged one 15-year-old boy from out of town with illegal possession of alcohol and with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police charged another 15-year-old boy from Newtown with possession of marijuana. Because the youths are under age 16, police did not disclose their identities.
Both youths were released into the custody of their parents and are slated for June 14 appearances in Danbury Juvenile Court.
Plymouth Hits Pole
Motorist Stephanie Davies, 18, of 39 Pine Tree Hill Road, was driving southward near 15 Pine Tree Hill Road about 9:40 pm May 11, when the auto crossed the road and struck a utility pole along the northbound road shoulder, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Davies to Danbury Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, police said. Botsford firefighters went to the accident. The crash is under investigation.
Two Charges
Police said they arrested Andrew Lambo, 18, of 8 Country Squire Road on two charges on May 11 in connection with a March incident. Police charged Lambo with larceny by possession and with hindering prosecution. Police released Lambo on $1,000 bail for a May 19 court appearance.
Rear-Ender
Motorist Kevin Braun, 53, of 58 Boggs Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Honda Pilot westward on Church Hill Road, stopped at a stop sign at that roadâs intersection with Main Street about 4 pm May 8, and was struck from behind by motorist Ginger Meetze, 52, of Danbury, who was driving a 2000 Honda UCL, police report. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Meetze for following too closely.
Flagpole Crash
Motorist Jhon Samaniago, 23, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Dodge Neon carrying four passengers, was traveling westward on Church Hill Road and was stopping at the stop sign at its intersection with Main Street about 4:45 pm May 7, when the Dodge was struck from behind by motorist Wayne Schrack, 42, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Ford F-350 pickup truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Schrack a written warning for following too closely. Police issued Samaniago an infraction ticket for failure to have a driverâs license.
