VNA Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness
The Newtown Visiting Nurse Association is hanging a wreath festooned in pink over the main entrance of Edmond Town Hall to remind everyone, especially women, that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the need for early detection.
First Selectman Herb Rosenthal presented the VNA Board with a citation proclaiming October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Newtown and October 21 as National Mammography Day. He urged all women in Newtown to get the facts about mammography.
VNA President Becky Smith said, âIt is important to remind women that mammography is the single most effective method of detecting breast cancer changes that may be cancer long before physical symptoms can bee seen or even felt.â
